Dehradun, June 8, 2026: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the nation on the completion of 12 consecutive years of the central government, praising the administration’s role in accelerating national development and underscoring how Uttarakhand has benefited from central support.
In his message, Dhami said the Prime Minister’s leadership is translating the vision of a strong, capable and selfrespecting India into reality, and that Uttarakhand’s development agenda focused on infrastructure, tourism and livelihoods is aligned with the national mission. “Under PM Modi, India is moving at a swift pace of progress, and Devbhoomi Uttarakhand is fulfilling its pledge of renewal,” he said.
Key achievements cited

Housing and social safety nets: Dhami highlighted schemes delivered at scale under the central government, including four crore pucca houses under PMAY and the continued distribution of free monthly rations to 81 crore beneficiaries.

Health and finance: He cited Ayushman Bharat’s free treatment access for 60 crore beneficiaries and extensive credit flow under government backed lending programmes.

Urban and transport expansion: The number of cities linked by metro rail has risen from five in 2014 to 26, and the metro network has expanded from 248 km to 1,155 km.

Water and urban access: Access to piped water supply has grown from 3.2 crore households before Independence to about 16 crore today, Dhami said.
Strategic sectors and selfreliance
Dhami pointed to India’s growing role in global digital transactions, rising defence production and export capabilities, and advances in space, artificial intelligence, startups and semiconductor initiatives as markers of a more selfreliant India. He also noted policy decisions that expanded women’s roles in the armed forces and strengthened national security responses.
Uttarakhand specific projects and investments
The chief minister highlighted several central assisted projects in Uttarakhand, saying more than Rs 2 lakh crore worth of development works are underway in the state. He cited the Char Dham allweather road initiative and the Delhidehradun Expressway built at an estimated cost of Rs 13,000 crore as transformative for connectivity. Rail and road corridors: SitarganjTanakpur, Paonta SahibDehradun, BhaniyawalaRishikesh and KathgodamLalkuanHaldwani bypasses, Rudrapur bypass and ongoing progress on the RishikeshKar naprayag rail project. The TanakpurBageshwar rail line has also been approved.

Airport and heliport expansion: Upgrades at Jollygrant, Pantnagar and Pithoragarh airports; 18 heliports planned under the UDAN scheme with services already running at 12; and helipads increased to about 118 across the state.

Ropeway network and pilgrimage infrastructure: The ParyatmanalaParvatmala push for ropeways from Gaurikund to Kedarnath and Govindghat to Hemkund Sahib, and redevelopment projects at Kedarnath and Badrinath as part of temple revival efforts.

Multipurpose water projects: Construction work on Jamrani, Saung and Lakhwar multipurpose projects to boost irrigation, drinking water and hydropower.
Environment, culture and the development link
Dhami reiterated that Uttarakhand’s ecological heritage its rivers, forests and mountains forms the foundation of the state’s identity, culture and economy. He warned that climate change is a present reality, affecting water resources, agriculture, biodiversity and tourism, and called for collective action to protect the environment. The chief minister urged citizens to plant trees under the “One Tree in Mother’s Name” campaign and invoked the legacy of Chipko as a model of people’s power in environmental protection.
Call for public participation
Stressing that development must reach every citizen, Dhami appealed to Uttarakhand residents to join the transformation journey and support the government’s projects. He said that with active public participation India can realize the vision of a developed, selfreliant nation by 2047.
