In Chhattisgarh’s Mungeli district, the Centre’s National Mission on Edible Oil Oilseeds scheme is delivering bumper results. Village Bareidhara’s Nageshwar Singh Parihar reaped a stellar Kharif harvest, netting 1.18 lakh Rupees from 1.5 hectares thanks to high quality seeds and scientific methods.
The 59 year old graduate (BA) blends traditional savvy with modern tech across his 2 hectares. Agriculture officials supplied 150 kg free premium groundnut seeds for 1.5 hectares. Training covered row sowing, seed treatment, bio inputs, quality selection, and integrated crop management. A three day session detailed full crop lifecycle, critical stages, balanced fertilizers, and seed standards.
Implementing these, Parihar optimized management, outyielding past seasons. Free seeds slashed costs, directly hiking profits. “This scheme is invaluable,” he says, urging peers: “Adopt government plans, embrace science for prosperity.”
NMEO Oilseeds exemplifies targeted intervention: tech transfer yielding real income. As Mungeli thrives, Chhattisgarh eyes oilseed self sufficiency, empowering aannadataa for Viksit Bharat.
