A New Smile, A Renewed Life: Lavanya’s Triumph Over Adversity

A timely intervention can rewrite destinies. The story of 13 year old Tunki Lavanya from Kanya Ashram, Gollapalli (Palachellma), Sukma district, proves this. Born with cleft lip, she endured not just physical pain but years of social stigma and shattered confidence. Family fears and lack of awareness delayed treatment until a mega super specialty health camp changed everything.

There, Collector Shri Amit Kumar and SP Shri Kiran Chavhan spotted her plight. Health teams screened Lavanya, created her Ayushman card, and referred her to the district hospital, then Kalada Hospital, Raipur. The RBSK Chirayu team ensured safe transit. On April 10, 2026, surgeons performed a successful operation, replacing agony with hope. Her beaming smile drew tears of joy from her family, erasing years of taunts.

The emotional peak came on April 13, 2026, when the Chief Minister and Health Minister met Lavanya during their Sukma visit. Gifting fruits and blessings, they celebrated her recovery, igniting her aspirations.

Lavanya’s journey transcends one girl. It showcases Chhattisgarh‘s public health machinery: camps bridging remote gaps, Ayushman Bharat enabling free care, Chirayu streamlining referrals. From stigma to self assurance, her transformation inspires tribal heartlands long neglected.

Challenges linger scaling camps, busting myths, but Lavanya embodies success: empowered health systems heal bodies and spirits.
