Dhami Urges Pilgrims to Ignore Rumours, Says Char Dham and Hemkund Sahib Yatras Are Running Smoothly

Dehradun, June 23, 2026: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday directed officials to give special attention to the comfort and convenience of all devotees visiting the Char Dham and Hemkund Sahib pilgrimages. He said that every pilgrim and tourist is warmly welcomed in Devbhoomi Uttarakhand and appealed to visitors to enjoy their journey in the state’s peaceful atmosphere without paying attention to rumours or misleading information.

Dhami made the remarks during a high level meeting at the Secretariat, where he reviewed the ongoing arrangements for the pilgrimages and the broader situation in the state. He said Uttarakhand is a sacred land of faith, culture and nature, and that the government is committed to ensuring a respectful and secure environment for all visitors.

The chief minister also addressed the incidents reported from Karnaprayag and Naugarasu, saying the state government, administration and police are taking necessary action while considering all sides of the matter. He said action has already been taken against those found guilty in the inquiry and that strict measures will continue on the basis of all facts.

Dhami said the Char Dham Yatra and Hemkund Sahib Yatra are both proceeding smoothly. He noted that more than 40 lakh devotees have already offered prayers during the Char Dham pilgrimage this season. He also pointed out that the number of pilgrims arriving in the early days of the Hemkund Sahib Yatra is already 25,000 higher than during the same period last year.

Highlighting Uttarakhand’s spiritual importance, Dhami said the state is home to three major Sikh holy sites Hemkund Sahib, Reetha Sahib and Nanakmatta Sahib which attract a large number of devotees each year. He said welcoming every visitor with respect is part of Devbhoomi’s culture and tradition, in keeping with the spirit of “Atithi Devo Bhava.”

The chief minister also warned against the spread of false and provocative content on social media, saying such attempts to divide society will not be tolerated. He said legal action will be taken against those who circulate misleading or inflammatory news.

Dhami added that all religious places are centres of faith, inspiration and positive guidance, and that the state government will not accept any act that harms dignity or faith. He said all issues can be resolved only through dialogue, harmony and a peaceful atmosphere.
