As Madhya Pradesh celebrates its 70th Foundation Day, it stands at the threshold of a new era filled with economic ambition, infrastructural strength, and social progress. Deputy Chief Minister Jagdish Deora, extending greetings to the people, reflected that the state today embodies the aspirations of a nation looking ahead to a developed India by 2047. The goal is clear and determined, to transform Madhya Pradesh into a two trillion dollar economy within the next two decades, ensuring inclusive growth and prosperity for every citizen.
Once considered primarily agrarian, Madhya Pradesh is now emerging as a balanced economic powerhouse driven by industrial expansion, agrarian reform, and sustainability. With over 1.2 lakh acres of land bank and more than 112 industrial zones, the state has evolved into a manufacturing and services hub. Fourteen greenfield sites are being developed to host the industries of the future, while pro business policies have simplified processes and ensured investor confidence.
The state’s rich natural resources, fertile land, and abundant water reserves have positioned agriculture at its core, with Madhya Pradesh leading in food grain and pulse production. A cluster based approach is being promoted to strengthen agro processing chains and ensure higher returns for farmers. The creation of value addition hubs, cold chains, and market connectivity will heighten productivity and link farmers to regional and global supply networks.
By 2029, the government aims to double the state’s GSDP and expand irrigation coverage to 85 percent of the cultivated area, while increasing renewable energy share to 50 percent by 2030. The installed power capacity is set to rise from 27,000 megawatts to 60,000 megawatts, reflecting significant investment in solar and wind development. Under Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav’s leadership, renewable energy has become a cornerstone of industrial progress and environmental stewardship.
Human development stands central to this growth. Plans to raise the gross enrolment ratio in school education to 90 percent and in higher education to 35 percent by 2029 are underway. An investment exceeding Rupees 8,000 crore will modernize the healthcare infrastructure, transforming facilities like Ujjain Medicity into regional centers of medical excellence. Simultaneously, urban and rural governance is being decentralized to create self reliant municipalities and empowered gram panchayats.
Drawing strength from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of inclusive growth, the state reiterates its commitment to Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas. With its people’s participation, resource efficiency, and focused governance, Madhya Pradesh is truly ready to ascend to new heights of development, a state moving confidently toward a future marked by self reliance, innovation, and prosperity.
