New Delhi, August 6, 2026: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami held a meeting with National Cadet Corps Director General Lieutenant General Virendra Vats, YSM, SM, VSM, at Uttarakhand Niwas in New Delhi. The meeting focused on expanding NCC activities in the state and creating better opportunities for young people in border and remote areas.
The two sides discussed the establishment of new NCC units in difficult-to-reach regions, particularly along Uttarakhand’s border areas. They also reviewed plans to improve training infrastructure, upgrade existing facilities and strengthen the NCC’s operational presence across the state.
Lieutenant General Vats highlighted the importance of connecting more young people with the NCC. He informed the Chief Minister about proposed initiatives for modern training facilities and outlined plans related to the establishment of an NCC Academy in Uttarakhand.
Dhami said the state government is committed to the overall development of its youth. He noted that the NCC plays an important role in nurturing discipline, patriotism, confidence, leadership qualities and a sense of social responsibility among young people.
The Chief Minister described the NCC as a respected national organisation that contributes significantly to nation-building. He said cadet training helps young people develop a strong sense of duty and prepares them to serve society and the country with commitment.
Dhami assured the NCC leadership of the state government’s full cooperation for the proposed expansion and infrastructure projects. He said all possible assistance would be provided to ensure the timely and effective implementation of these initiatives.
The Chief Minister expressed confidence that the expansion of NCC activities would benefit students across Uttarakhand, especially those living in border districts, mountainous regions and remote areas. He said the initiative would provide young people with greater access to leadership training, personality development and opportunities to contribute to national service.
