Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Chhattisgarh Rajat Mahotsav at Nava Raipur, marking 25 years since the formation of the state. On this historic occasion, he inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for development and infrastructure projects worth over Rupees 14,260 crore, spanning key sectors including roads, power, healthcare, and industry.
Extending greetings to the people, the Prime Minister acknowledged Chhattisgarh’s remarkable evolution since its creation in 2000. He recalled how the state, nurtured under the stewardship of leaders like Atal Bihari Vajpayee, has grown into a thriving and progressive region. He expressed pride in Chhattisgarh’s journey of transformation, stating, “The seed sown twenty five years ago has now become a flourishing tree of development.” He also inaugurated the new Legislative Assembly building and the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Tribal Freedom Fighters Museum, which chronicles 150 years of tribal resistance and contribution to India’s freedom struggle.
Highlighting the government’s focus on infrastructure, the Prime Minister announced new four lane highways linking Chhattisgarh with Jharkhand, expansion of national highways, and a strengthened power grid. The Nagpur Jharsuguda gas pipeline and the Raipur petroleum depot further strengthen the region’s energy security, while nine new power substations and multiple RDSS projects will expand rural electrification. In the healthcare and education sectors, the foundation stones for five government medical colleges and an Ayurveda College were laid, ensuring better access to medical training and public health. The Smart Industrial Areas at Janjgir Champa and Rajnandgaon, and the Nava Raipur Pharmaceutical Park, mark new milestones in employment and industrial growth.
Emphasizing the inclusive development vision of his government, Shri Modi reaffirmed the resolve to uplift tribal and rural communities through welfare programs like the PM JANMAN and Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan, an 80,000 crore initiative dedicated to tribal development. He underlined that nearly 3.5 lakh families in Chhattisgarh have received homes under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and that electricity, LPG, and internet access have reached even the remotest areas.
The Prime Minister also spoke of Chhattisgarh’s ongoing success in eradicating Maoist terrorism, noting that districts once dominated by militancy are now symbols of progress. “The red flag has been replaced by the tricolour,” he said, adding that the day is not far when Chhattisgarh and India will be completely free from Maoist violence.
Concluding his address, he called upon the youth to lead the next generation of advancement, asserting that Chhattisgarh’s progress is vital to building a developed India. “This is your time,” he told the young citizens, “and there is no goal beyond your reach.
