Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav will inaugurate the International Forest Fair on Wednesday, 17 December, at 5 PM at Lal Parade Ground in Bhopal. This week long event, running from 17 to 23 December, is organised jointly by the Forest Department and the Madhya Pradesh State Minor Forest Produce (Trade and Development) Cooperative Federation under the theme Samriddh Van Khushhaal Jan (Prosperous Forests, Happy People).
The Chief Minister will also release the anthem Laghu Vanopaj Hamari Shaan, unveil the logo of the MFP Park and launch a wellness kit produced by the federation. The event will be attended by Sports and Youth Welfare and Cooperation Minister Vishwas Kailash Sarang, Higher Education, AYUSH and Technical Education Minister Inder Singh Parmar, Minister of State for Forests and Environment Dilip Ahirwar, Additional Chief Secretary and Administrator of MP State Minor Forest Produce Ashok Barnwal, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests V.N. Ambade and Managing Director of MP State Minor Forest Produce Dr. Samita Rajoura.
The fair promises a vibrant cultural extravaganza blending tradition, innovation and awareness. Highlights include traditional Dindori dance on 17 December, a startup conclave and traditional healer workshop on 18 December, fancy dress and solo acting by students on 19 December, painting competitions and Bundeli singing on 20 December, solo and group dances on 21 December, instrumental performances on 22 December and a grand closing ceremony with awards and Jhabua traditional dance on 23 December. Daily orchestra performances by renowned groups and biodiversity awareness through street plays will engage diverse audiences.
This initiative underscores Madhya Pradeshs commitment to harnessing the economic potential of minor forest produce while preserving biodiversity and empowering forest dependent communities. By showcasing tribal products, fostering startups and promoting sustainable practices, the fair positions the state as a leader in forest based economies. It celebrates the symbiotic relationship between prosperous forests and thriving communities, aligning with national goals of inclusive growth and environmental stewardship.
