Haridwar, June 22, 2026: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Sunday attended the Shrimad Bhagavat Katha Gyan Yagya and grand saints’ conference at Hari Seva Ashram, where he offered greetings to revered saints and praised the ashram’s work in service, values and social awakening.
Dhami said the Shrimad Bhagavat Katha is not merely a religious event but a medium that connects humanity with spiritual consciousness, moral values and the true purpose of life. Calling the saints the bearers of Indian culture and national consciousness, he said they have played a vital role in guiding society and strengthening the nation through history.
The chief minister said India is witnessing a new era of cultural resurgence under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He cited the construction and redevelopment of major spiritual sites such as the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Kashi Vishwanath Dham, Mahakal Lok and the Kedarnath Dham redevelopment as examples of renewed energy for India’s spiritual heritage.
Dhami said the Uttarakhand government is working continuously to establish the state as the spiritual capital of the world. He said Devbhoomi’s cultural identity, spiritual character and Sanatan values are being protected through firm policy decisions and sustained governance action.
He pointed to the state’s strict anti conversion law, Uniform Civil Code and land law as major steps taken to safeguard cultural identity and social order. He also said the government is acting against encroachment on public land and strengthening law and order across the state.
The chief minister added that a Centre for Hindu Studies has been established at Doon University to connect the youth with Indian culture and Sanatan traditions through advanced study and research. He also said an ancient research institute is being set up in Haridwar.
Dhami thanked Swami Harichetanand Ji Maharaj and sought continued blessings and guidance from the saint community for the bright future of the state and the nation. He expressed confidence that with public support and saintly blessings, Uttarakhand would achieve its goal of becoming the country’s best state.
Former chief minister and former Union minister Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Assembly Speaker Ritu Khanduri Bhushan, Cabinet Minister Satpal Maharaj, Pradeep Batra, saints and other dignitaries were present at the event.
