Dehradun, September 17, 2026: The concluding phase of the Mukhyamantri Yuva Vidyarthi Manthan campaign will feature a direct interaction between Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and 140 selected students on September 18.
The dialogue will focus on the theme “What Should My Uttarakhand of Dreams Be Like?” The initiative was launched to involve young people in shaping the state’s development priorities and to understand their ideas, suggestions and vision for Uttarakhand’s future.
Senior Officials to Join Discussions
To make the interaction more meaningful, Dhami has directed senior IAS officers and departmental heads to meet the selected students before the Chief Minister’s session.
Officials from departments dealing with education, health, forests and the environment, self-employment, migration, public works, information technology, tourism, and women and child development will listen to the students’ views.
They will discuss the young participants’ suggestions and present significant ideas to the Chief Minister. The process is intended to ensure that the dialogue goes beyond a formal interaction and provides students with an opportunity to engage directly with policymakers.
2,67,744 Students Participated
The campaign brought together approximately three lakh Class 11 and 12 students from across Uttarakhand. Of these, 2,67,744 students submitted their ideas and suggestions through an online portal on the theme of their dream Uttarakhand.
An expert panel selected 140 students whose submissions were considered particularly thoughtful, relevant and constructive. Dhami has also travelled to different parts of the state to meet students, hear their views and discuss their vision.
The September 18 programme will give the selected students an opportunity to interact with him directly in the final stage of the campaign.
From Competition to Policy Dialogue
The Chief Minister has said that young people are not merely Uttarakhand’s future but important participants in policymaking today. Accordingly, the programme has been designed as a broad platform for dialogue between the government and youth rather than simply an essay or idea competition.
Student contributions have covered a wide range of issues, including:
- Education and employment.
- Self-employment and entrepreneurship.
- Migration from the hills.
- Tourism and environmental protection.
- Technology and innovation.
- Women’s empowerment.
- Healthcare and public infrastructure.
The campaign has helped the government understand the aspirations and expectations of the younger generation on key development issues facing Uttarakhand.
Youth and the 2047 Vision
Dhami said his government believes in regular dialogue and participation with young people. He linked the initiative with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of making India a developed nation by 2047.
He said Uttarakhand’s youth can contribute to this goal through their talent, innovation and ideas. The central purpose of the Mukhyamantri Yuva Vidyarthi Manthan, he added, is to involve the state’s young people in building a developed Uttarakhand and a developed India.
The Chief Minister has also emphasised that youth ideas should not merely be heard but connected, wherever possible, with development policies and government schemes. The September 18 interaction with the 140 selected students is expected to be a key milestone in that effort.
