MP Cabinet’s Bold Stroke: Free Land Registration for Sardar Sarovar Displacees, Irrigation Boost

Bhopal’s cabinet room echoed with transformative resolve on February 3, 2026. Under Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav’s leadership, the Madhya Pradesh Council of Ministers approved game changing measures, prioritizing Narmada displacees, farmers, and long term welfare schemes.

Justice for Sardar Sarovar Displacees
In a landmark move, the cabinet waived registration fees and stamp duty for residential plots allotted to Sardar Sarovar Project displacees in the Narmada Valley. The Narmada Valley Development Authority will reimburse costs per Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), benefiting over 25,600 families. This 600 crore state commitment rights a decades old wrong, securing homes and dignity for those uprooted by the vital dam.

Irrigation Lifeline for Maihar and Katni
Two micro irrigation projects received 620.65 crore approval, targeting drought prone districts. Maihar and Katinis Dhanwahi Micro Pressure Irrigation Project (53.73 crore) will irrigate 3,500 hectares, aiding 2,810 farmers across 9 villages. Katinis Barhi Micro Lift Irrigation Project (566.92 crore) promises 20,000 hectares of coverage, empowering 11,500 farmers in 27 villages of Barhi and Vijayraghavgarh tehsils. These initiatives promise crop security and rural prosperity.

Sustaining 10 Key Schemes Till 2030-31
Over 15,009 crore greenlit for continuity across 6 departments from FY 2026-27 to 2030-31:

  • Finance: 8 schemes under 500 crore (115.06 crore)

  • Labour: CM Jan Kalyan (Sambal 2.0) (5,000 crore)

  • Planning, Economy & Statistics: Assembly Constituency and Establishment schemes (3,376.66 crore)

  • Animal Husbandry & Dairy: Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Kamdhenu, Veterinary University Jabalpur block grant, and livestock schemes (6,472.18 crore)

  • Women & Child Development: Adolescent Welfare Fund and Domestic Violence Victim Aid (24.70 crore)

  • Backward Classes Welfare: Minority Self Employment/Enterprise (21 crore)

Additionally, the MP State Social Welfare Board dissolves, merging staff into Women & Child Development for streamlined services.
