As Madhya Pradesh prepares to celebrate its 70th Foundation Day, the state is set to take a decisive leap in its tourism narrative. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav announced that the state will inaugurate the PM Shri Tourism Helicopter Service, offering pilgrims and travelers an aerial gateway to some of its most sacred and scenic destinations. The symbolic launch will take place on November 1 with the first flight taking off from Bhopal to Ujjain, marking the dawn of an era where mobility meets magnificence.
The helicopter connectivity project, powered by Madhya Pradesh Tourism, is designed not merely as a transport initiative but as a holistic tourism experience, combining travel with accommodation and local transit support. The state will operate services across three major circuits.
-
Central Heritage Route connecting Bhopal, Ujjain, Indore, Mandav, and Omkareshwar, weaving together spiritual heritage and architectural marvels.
-
Eastern Plateau Route linking Pachmarhi, Tamia, and Khajuraho, bringing tourists closer to hill stations, forest retreats, and UNESCO world heritage treasures.
-
Wildlife Corridor Route covering Jabalpur, Kanha, Pench, and Panna National Parks, giving visitors a bird’s eye view of India’s rich natural sanctuaries.
Simultaneously, formal proceedings will be completed on November 1 to develop Ujjain’s new airport, set to become the state’s ninth civil airport, reaffirming the administration’s strategic commitment to regional aviation and tourism driven growth.
Dr. Yadav, chairing the review meeting at Samatva Bhavan, said the helicopter network underscores Madhya Pradesh’s vision of accessible, sustainable, and premium tourism. By integrating spirituality, heritage, and eco tourism, the initiative aims to elevate the visitor experience while stimulating local economies.
Adding to the festive fervor, the Foundation Day celebrations will feature the grand theatrical production Samrat Vikramaditya on November 2 and 3 at Lal Parade Ground, along with an exhibition showcasing two years of industrial progress and the launch of the Wash on Wheels app by the Industries Department.
More than an anniversary, this year’s Foundation Day marks a declaration that Madhya Pradesh is no longer content to rest on its heritage but is ready to soar above it. With rotor blades now echoing alongside temple bells and forest winds, the heart of India is charting new skies for faith, travel, and progress.
